The REZ Factor - Heat 3
Thursday 21st January 2010
So heat 3 has now been and gone and it was a very good and busy night in The Resolution and it attracted seven entrants in total.
Taking to the microphone 1st was Karaoke Kris, who this week decided to try the Bob Marley song "No Woman, No Cry". Kris has performed this song countless times but somehow he hasn't managed to master it. He received a rather generous round of applause.
Singing next and his first time in the competition was Peter who sang "Strangers In The Night" by Frank Sinatra. This is one of Peter's favourite Sinatra tunes and he sang it very well and received a good reception from the audience as he finished.
Singing 3rd was local girl Crystal, who chose to sing "Don't Speak" by No Doubt. Crystal has a very unique voice and this came across very well in her performance. She received a nice round of applause and it was rewarded by gaining 3rd place on the night.
Singing 4th was Alan who was back again this week and sang The Mavericks classic "Dance The Night Away". Alan mentioned to me, as the song started, that he can't stand this song! But he sang it very well and pleased the crowd enough to give him a very warm round of applause.
The next singer was Azre-Al who tried his luck again this week with the Elvis Presley song "Don't". He sang in his own style, as always, and moving about a lot. At one point i thought he was going to go to the bar for a drink! Nevertheless, he never got placed, again.
The 6th singer was Swilley who sang the Shaggy tune 'Angel'. Swilley really seemed to get down to the beat of the song, especially in the rapping bits, and showed a few good moves much to the delight of some of the female audience. He received very loud whoops and cheers as he finished.
And the final person to sing was Emma, who entered the competition for the fist time with "Hero" by Mariah Carey. Emma sang this extremely well and received a good cheer and applause from the audience. It was good enough for her to earn 2nd place.
With the biggest audience of the competition so far, it took a while for all the votes to be given out and then counted. But in the end there could only be one winner, who this week was Swilley !
He received his seven free pints and of course a place in the Grand Final on 1st April 2010.
See you all again next week for some more

The REZ Factor - Heat 4
Thursday 28th January 2010
So we've had heat 4 and produced another singer for the Grand Final. On a relatively quiet night at The Resolution, a total of six people entered.
Kicking heat 4 off was Karaoke Kris who this week had a go at "Beautiful Day" by U2. He sang it ok, by Kris's standards, and received a decent round of applause and also joint 3rd place!!
Singing 2nd, and his 2nd try in the competition, was Peter who this week tried his luck with "American Pie" by Don McLean. It was sung very confidently and it was well received by the audience.
Singing next was Emma and for her 1st try in the contest and she performed "Ironic" by Alanis Morrisette. No stranger to this song, she performed it very well and received a good cheer and applause as she finished.
The 4th singer, and also his 1st time in the competition, was John. He sang "Living On My Own" by Freddie Mercury. John can really belt this song out and he didn't hold back in this performance. It was good enough to earn him joint 3rd place.
Crystal was the next singer who this week tried her luck with Olivia Newton-John's "Hopelessly Devoted To You" from the Grease soundtrack. She sang this with great confidence and really delivered the high notes. She received a good round of applause and also, this week, 2nd place on the night.
And the final singer was Alan who this week tried "Dakota" by The Stereophonics. It was his second try at this number and it was ok but is not one of Alan's best songs he can sing. He received a nice cheer and rounf of applause from the audience.
After the audience, and all the singers, received their voting slips, it was revealed by myself the the winner of Heat 4 was......EMMA.
She come up to receive her six free pints of a place in The Grand Final on 1st April 2010.
I hope to see you all again next week!

The REZ Factor - Heat 5
Thursday 4th February 2010
Well Heat 5 was a good, interesting night with
a decent audience and six entrants in total.
Singing 1st was Chris who entered the competition for the first time with Billy Idol's "White Wedding".
He certainly did himself justice in his performance and he received a good applause as he finished.
Up next was Ed, also entering for the first time, who sang "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder. Ed can certainly deliver this song very well, which he did and earned himself 3rd place on the night for his efforts.
Singing next for his 5th time in the contest was Karaoke Kris who this week decided to sing "Inside Out" by Bryan Adams. A relatively new song for Kris, he seemed to struggle through most of the song bur still received a round of applause.
The 4th singer was Crystal who this week decided to sing "What If" by Kate Winslet. She sang this very well and hit all the notes spot on. She received rapturous rounds of applause by the enthusiastic audience and to the delight of Crystal!
The next singer was Alan. This week he tried his luck at "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol. Alan has sung this song many times and his confidence in his performance shone through. He did well enough to gain 2nd place on the night.
And the final singer was Peter who this week decided to sing "Congratulations" by Cliff Richard. You could tell that Peter really enjoys singing this song and he got the crowd joining in with him. He received a well deserved cheer and round of applause as he finished off.
So the voting slips went out to all the audience who voted for their favourite singer. After they had all come back in and counted up by myself i revealed that the winner of heat 5 was........
CRYSTAL !!
Crystal come up to receive her 6 free pints, which is good because she loves drinking, and confirmed her place in the Grand Final on 1st April 2010.
I hope to see more of you again next Thursday for some more REZ Factor !

The REZ Factor - Heat 6
Thursday 11th February 2010
On a relatively quiet night at The Resolution we had Heat 6 of The REZ Factor with only four entrants.
Singing 1st was Holly who entered for the first time in the competition with "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" by Abba. She sang it well, in her own style, and received a good round of applause and also gained 2nd place on the night.
Singing next was John who this time decided to sing "Achy Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus. This was belted out in the only way John knows, but to good effect and the audience went wild had he finished off a polished performance.
The 3rd entrant was Karaoke Kris who this week sang "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears. Kris, as always, sang in his own unique style but sadly didn't do enough to gain a place in the top three.
And finally we had Peter who this week sang the upbeat song by Roy Orbison "Penny Arcade". Peter really got into this song by marching on the spot during the chorus and he got most people joining in with him. Sadly he only gained enough votes for 2nd place.
So that was it! A very quick, short competition tonight and as the voting slips came in, i counted them all up to reveil the winner of heat 6 was...
JOHN !
John came up to receive his four free pints and his place in The Grand Final on 1st April 2010.
See you all again next week!

The REZ Factor - Heat 7
Thursday 18th February 2010
Heat 7 of The REZ Factor was a male dominated night
with a total of five men entering the contest.
The first singer was Peter who this week tried the
Gary Puckett & The Union Gap song "Young Girl".
He sang it very well and received a nice little cheer as he finished.
Singing next, and his 7th time in the competition, was Karaoke Kris who sang "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jnr. It was sung in his usual unique style and was rewarded with a good round of applause.
The third singer was Azre'al who tried his luck again with "Don't" by Elvis Presley. He performed it this time quite seriously but it seemed to pay off as he gained 2nd place, voted by the audience.
Singing fourth was Alan who this time sang "Need You Tonight" by INXS. Alan has sung this song many times before and it showed with a confident performance but only received 3rd place on the night.
The last singer, and his first time in the contest, was Justin. He decided to sing "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" by Diana Ross. Justin sang this extremely well, helped by his wonderful vibrato in his voice. He received a very loud cheer and round of applause as he finished.
So as the votes went out to the audience it soon became clear who this weeks winner was going to be.
With a very large margin, this weeks REZ Factor winner was......
JUSTIN !
Justin came up to receive his 5 free drinks and confirmed his place in The Grand Final on 1st April 2010.
Justin singing his way to victory with Daina Ross
Azre'al in 2nd place singing Elvis Presley
Alan in 3rd place singing INXS
The REZ Factor - Heat 9
Thursday 4th March 2010
On another realitivly quite night at The Resolution we had heat 9 with a total of only four entrants.
Singing first, and the only female in this weeks contest, was Holly who tried again with "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" by Abba. No stranger to singing this song, she gave it her all and was rewarded by a nice round of applause and 2nd place on the night!
Up next was the infamous Karaoke Kris who tried his ninth different song in as many weeks with The Bee Gees version of "Words". Kris was really firing on all cylinders tonight, although occasionally mis-firing, as he belted this out in the only way he knows how. He received a mixed reaction from the audience as his finshed.
Singing 3rd was Ed who tried his luck again the the Stevie Wonder classic "Superstition". And it was a super performance from Ed who controlled the song from start to finish. The audience gave him a good round of applause at the end of the song.
And finally we had Peter who tried again this week with the ever popular "Amarillo" by Tony Christie. Peter really got into this song and encouraged the audience to clap along with him in the right places by doing it himself. Not the easiest thing to do when you're holding a microphone but nevertheless he did it well and effectivly. He was rewarded with third position on the night.
So that was it for another heat and as the audience voted for their favourite singer it soon became clear the the heat 9 winner was........
ED !
Ed received his free drinks and of course a place
in the Grand Final on 1st April 2010 !
Ed singing his way to victory with "Superstition"
Holly performing her Abba song and gaining 2nd
Peter during Amarillo and gaining 3rd place
The REZ Factor - Heat 10
Thursday 11th March 2010
On an extremely quite night at The Resolution
we had Heat 10 with a total of four entrants.
Singing 1st was Peter who this week had a go at "Silence Is Golden" by The Tremeloes. It was a very good & confident performance by Peter and it was rewarded by him gaining 2nd place on the night.
The next singer was Karaoke Kris who upon entering the competition for the 10th time tried with his 10th different song. This week it was "Read My Mind" by The Killers. Kris blasted it out like he normally does but still mangaed to gain 3rd place, although it was joint 3rd place!
The 3rd singer, and the only female in the nights contest, was Amanda. It was only the 2nd time Amanda had entered and she tried her luck again with "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler. It was sung very well and she received a good round of applause from the small audience.
And finally we had Eric, who entering the competition for the 1st time decided to sing "Love Shine A Light" by Katrina & The Waves. I thought he sang this very well but unfortunately only got enough votes for joint 3rd place.
So as you've probably already gathered, the winner of Heat 10 of The REZ Factor was......
AMANDA !!
Amanda received her four free drinks from behind the bar and confirmed her place in the
Grand Final on Thursday 1st April !
I hope to see more of you there next week for the penultimate heat of the REZ Factor !

Karaoke Kris also in joint 3rd singing The Killers
The REZ Factor - Heat 11
Thursday 18th March 2010
So the penultimate round of The REZ Factor
has been with a good turn out and a total
of six singers entering the competition.
Singing first was Christine who sang "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You" by Heart. It was sung very well with a good vocal range for the song. It was was rewarded by her gaining 2nd place.
Up next was Peter who this week sang the 60's favourite "Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison. As usual, Peter really got into the song and i thought he sang it very well. Unfortunately the audience didn't agree as this week he didn't get placed.
The third singer was Kelly who sang her tried and tested karaoke song "Foundations" by Kate Nash. Kelly always sings this song extremely well and tonight was no exception. She received a good cheer & applause from the audience as she finished.
The fourth singer was Karaoke Kris who yet again tried another different song. This week he had a go at "Knockin' On Heavens Door" by Guns & Roses. As always, Kris belted this out in the only way he knows how and was met with a good cheer at the end. He obviously impressed some people as he gained 3rd place on the night.
Singing next, and her 1st time in the competition, was Grace. She sang a very good and confident performance of "Valerie" by Mark Ronson feat. Amy Winehouse. She also received a good cheer & applause from the audience as she finished.
And finally we had Azre'al who tried his luck with "Don't" by Elvis Presley again. He sang it very well i thought but sadly didn't gain enough votes to make it to the top three this time.
So the votes went out to the audience who decided who they wanted to win. After they all came in and were counted by myself, i realised that it was a tie for 1st place between Kelly and Grace. It's the first time that this has happened in The REZ Factor so i had to ask the audience to vote again. This time they could only vote for Kelly OR Grace. After everyone voted again and they were counted up, i told the audience that there was only two votes separating the two singers. But there could only be one winner and that was.......
GRACE !
Grace came up to receive her six free drinks and confirmed her place in The Grand Final on Thursday 1st April 2010.
I Hope to see you all again next week for the
final heat of The REZ Factor !!

The REZ Factor - Heat 12
Thursday 25th March 2010
So the final heat of The REZ Factor has been an gone and we now have the full line up for The Grand Final next week. The night only drew four contestants but was still a good night!
Singing first was the only female contestant, Christine. She chose to sing "All I Wanna Do" by Heart. It was a good strong performance and received a nice round of applause from the audience. It gained her joint 3rd place.
Singing next was Karaoke Kris who tried for the final time to get into the final with "Together In Electric Dreams" by Phil Oakey. It was sung, as always, in his own unique style. It was good enough though for joint third place.
The third singer was Azre'al who this week tried
once again with the Elvis Presley ballad "Don't".
It was sung very well and confidently and was well received by the audience who gave him a nice cheer and applause as he finished.
And finally we had Peter who finished of in style with the Frank Sinatra classic "New York, New York". Peter, as usual, really got into the tune by kicking his legs in time with the music. The audience whooped and cheered him throughout the song. It was good enough for Peter to gain 2nd place on the night.
But the final heat belonged to Azre'al after he gained the most votes from the audience. He collected his four free pints and of course his place in The Grand Final next Thursday 1st April !
I hope to see you all there next week to what should hopefully be a fantastic Grand Final !
